Jackson, MI- Sheriff Gary Schuette reports on Saturday, July 17th 2021 at 3:02 pm, deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to Moscow Road and Hanover Road, Hanover Township, for a two-vehicle crash.
Preliminary investigation indicates a Jeep was traveling northbound on Moscow Road preparing to turn westbound onto Hanover Road. The Jeep turned in front of a commercial box traveling southbound on Moscow Road. The driver of the box truck was unable to avoid the collision and struck the Jeep. A 58 year old female passenger of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. She was a Jackson County resident.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The investigation is ongoing by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Hanover Township Fire Department, Liberty Township Fire Department, Michigan State Police and Somerset Ambulance.
