Please note “Jamie McKibbin Memorial Scholarship Fund” in the memo line.

McKibbin, a longtime staple on the Jackson airwaves on K105.3 FM and its sister stations, along with his wife Katina, were new radio group owners in 2020 having acquired WIBM-AM, WKHM-AM/FM in Jackson and WCSR-AM/FM in Hillsdale. They understood the importance of small-market, community-based radio and how valuable the airwaves were to listeners and clients in those respective markets.

Jamie was dedicated to the future of broadcasting, serving as the chair of the MAB General Education Committee from 2017 until his passing. Katina continues to serve as owner and president of MMG today carrying on Jamie’s legacy.

The MAB Foundation Jamie McKibbin Memorial Scholarship Fund was set up back in 2020 with the goal of providing an academic scholarship to a student that shows great interest in radio or television broadcasting in Michigan. As of now, the fund is in need of donations to solidify its place as a regularly awarded annual scholarship through the Foundation.

MMG and its stations (K105.3 FM, The Power Cow 95.9 FM/1450 AM, NewsTalk 970 AM/101.5 FM and Fox Sports 101.9 FM in Jackson and WCSR 92.1 FM and The Dale 99.5 FM/1340 AM in Hillsdale) will support fundraising efforts for the fund year-round.

Everyone at MMG appreciates the generosity of donors to this fund and offers many thanks for the support. If you have questions, feel free to contact Rachel Krause, Executive Director of Programs, Michigan Association of Broadcasters, at krause@michmab.com.
