Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Just days after a lawsuit settlement led to the implementation of new leadership at the Michigan Theatre of Jackson, it was announced that Steve Tucker has returned to the position of Executive Director by the Theatre’s Interim-Board of Directors Co-Chair Philip J. Curtis.
The announcement came at a press conference that took place in the Theatre on Friday afternoon that was scheduled the day before, and came just two days after the lawsuit was settled.
Part of the settlement came with the resignations of former board members Nan Whitmore and Kathryn Snyder, with Curtis saying that there are currently no plans to have either rejoin the board.
Former Executive Director Jacinda Gutierrez was said to no longer be with the Theatre, and has been “very cooperative” according to Curtis throughout the process.
Steve Tucker spoke at the event, thanking the Jackson community for their support during what he described as an unpleasant time following his removal from the position earlier in the year.
Tucker also extended his gratitude to Curtis and his legal staff, as well as to his family for remaining steadfast over the past few months.
Tucker said he is excited to be at the helm once again, and plans to get to work on building a positive future for the Michigan Theatre of Jackson.
A celebratory event for welcoming Tucker back to the Theatre has been tentatively scheduled for June 11, with Curtis touching on free admission and teasing a hopeful special guest.
It was also mentioned that the recent lack of attendance has resulted in a “big hill to climb” in the short-term, with Curtis saying that the interim board will be getting to work on efforts to raise funds.
According to Curtis, the annual meeting for Theatre members that was indefinitely postponed by the previous Board is currently scheduled to take place on August 5.
