Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Jackson City Council has approved a budget amendment for a $1 million grant received in 2024.
The funds are to be split between the City of Jackson, the Jackson Housing Commission (JHC), and Residents in Action (RIA).
City Grant Administrator Cory Mays stated the breakdown of $400k going to the city, and $300k going to both the JHC and RIA.
Mays also said that the city’s and JHC’s budgets are being amended, while RIA’s remained unchanged.

According to the budget amendment in the meeting’s agenda packet, the JHC will receive slightly less than $200k for elevator repairs, while the rest of their $300k portion will go to general building repairs.

The budget amendment for the City of Jackson’s portion had to do with the city providing additional down payment assistance to those buying homes from the city’s 100 Homes Program.

This amendment allows for up to $25k of down payment assistance to go along with the up to $25k worth of down payment assistance already offered by the program.
RIA’s $300k is allocated for Project Management and Administration, Homeless Programming and Operations, Facilities and Property/Ground Management, and Indirect Staff/Contractual Services.
