Grow Jackson Presentation to County Commission

During the Jackson County Board of Commissioners Study Session on Tuesday morning, the board heard a presentation from Grow Jackson’s Executive Director and Founder Jacob Inosencio about their long-term plans for a Farmers’ Market on the old prison grounds.

He told the board that all future expenses will go be funded either from private dollars or public funds from outside of Jackson County.

Grow Jackson hopes to eventually operate a Farm Stop at the location.

The non-profit plans on taking part in initiatives that encourages those on food stamps to purchase healthy produce.

When asked how the funding is made up for in that program by Commissioner Tony Bair, Jacob cited a private-public partnership between the Fair Food Network and the State of Michigan.
