Jury deliberations begin today in the federal trial of four men accused in a plot to kidnap the Governor – prosecutors said the four men drifted around “armed to the teeth” and making homemade bombs.
During the trial, they produced evidence from informants that the men had twice scoped out the Governor’s vacation home in Elk Rapids for the plot and tried to raise $4,000 to buy explosives.
Defense attorneys claim the men were all talk and being egged on by informants like “Big Dan” Chappel, who took the stand during the trial.
