Saturday, September 19, the Michigan Department of Corrections uncovered a plot to smuggle drugs into the Lakeland Correctional Facility.
An investigation was initiated in conjunction with the Michigan State Police and the Department of Natural Resources, among other units.
Police located 3 suspects with the assistance of canine officers and an MSP drone. According to investigators, the three suspects are from Adrian. A 33 year-old female, a 20 year-old male and the female’s 15 year-old daughter. All three were taken into custody. The two adults are facing numerous felony charges.
The investigation revealed the involvement of several prisoners at Lakeland Correctional.
Names are currently withheld pending court hearings.
The 15 year-old girl has been turned over to family and Child Protective Services have been contacted.
