JPD and Sheriff Looking for Reserve Officers

If you’re interested in law enforcement the Jackson Police Department and the Office of the Sheriff are seeking reserve officers.  Reserve officers can serve with sworn officers on patrol or can assist with community events like parades or fireworks.  Candidates will receive extensive training including investigation, defensive tactics, firearms, and narcotics.  candidates must be able to obtain a concealed pistol license.

Qualifications
To become a member of the Jackson Police Reserve Unit, applicants must complete a 17-week, 150-hour training course. This course covers subject matter that plays critical roles in the job of a police officer, like criminal law, defensive tactics, firearms safety, courtroom testimony and more. In-service training is provided regularly to keep these topics updated with reserve officers. Other requirements that applicants must meet to become reserve officers are:
