Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The criminal case against Jaron Warner, the stepson of Dee Warner, has been dropped. Court records show the charges were dismissed on Tuesday.
Jaron had faced two counts of tampering with evidence and being an accessory to murder in connection with Dee Warner’s disappearance. His father, Dale Warner, is accused of killing Dee and hiding her remains in a chemical storage tank.
Authorities never publicly detailed how Jaron was allegedly involved. It’s not yet clear why the charges were dropped, and prosecutors have not released a statement. In a press release from Jaron Warner’s defense attorneys at Rockind Law, they argue that the State’s case could not hold up in court, that he should never have been charged, and should be recharged. They also expressed disappointment at not being able to “[expose] that there was no basis to accuse or charge him” due to the dismissal of the case.
Dee Warner went missing in April 2021. Her remains were found last year on the family’s property. Dale Warner is still awaiting trial.
