Consumers Energy Providing $5 Million in Assistance

JACKSON, Mich. — Michigan families facing rising costs are getting added support from Consumers Energy. The utility is launching 2026 with a five-million-dollar investment aimed at helping customers manage energy bills and stay connected.

Consumers Energy Senior VP and Chief Customer and Growth Officer…and Jackson native… Lauren Snyder explains why this is important.

The funding will provide direct assistance, community partnerships, and cost-management programs, with the money coming from Consumers Energy itself — not customer bills.

The assistance will be distributed through nonprofit agencies across the state, including United Way, The Salvation Army, THAW, St. Vincent de Paul, and multiple community action organizations that work directly with families in need.

Consumers Energy says affordability goes beyond comparisons to other utilities and focuses on helping customers stay ahead of financial challenges before they become emergencies.

Snyder says if you need assistance, call 2-1-1

Consumers Energy says more affordability efforts are planned throughout the year.
