Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Jackson City Council was given a presentation and held a public hearing at their last meeting regarding upcoming improvements to intersections along Ganson Street from Mechanic Street to Horton Street.
City Engineer Troy White explained how the project will be made possible with federal grant money to improve safety.
Engineer White says that one of the key goals of the project will go to upgrading the signage at the intersection of Ganson and Waterloo.
A rough timeline was provided during the presentation, with work expected to begin in June of 2027 and completion estimated for around nine months afterward.
A public hearing was required to be held due to the work expecting to impact points of access to the MLK Equality Trail and Loomis Park during construction.
The grant was said to be about $350,000 with a required 20% local match.
