Loaded Firearm Recovered by Jackson Police After Subject Flees From Officers

Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson Police Department (JPD) seized a loaded firearm after a subject fled from officers this past Tuesday (July 28).

According to the JPD, their Violent Crimes Unit made contact with a small group of subjects on Biddle Street on July 28. The department says the group was in violation of a City Ordinance regarding walking in streets where sidewalks are available.

One of the subjects then ran from the officers. During the foot pursuit, he was observed by authorities discarding a handgun. The subject, a 21-year-old man, was ultimately caught and arrested.

The loaded pistol (pictured below courtesy of the Jackson Police Department) was recovered by the JPD, and the 21-year-old man was transported to jail and charged with carrying a concealed weapon as well as resisting / obstructing.

Authorities say the man was also on a conditional bond release for a separate, unrelated gun case.
