Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Officials with the City of Jackson Police Department (JPD) have announced the date for the city’s National Night Out, an event aimed to bring communities closer to each other, as well as with local police officers and firefighters.
JPD Chief Christopher Simpson says that the City of Jackson’s National Night Out celebration is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 4. at Loomis Park from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
National Night Out is a nationwide program that aims to bring residents, police officers and firefighters closer together through fun-filled events.
Jackson’s festivities will feature music, games, bike raffles and food. Residents will have an opportunity to meet police officers and firefighters, along with getting an up close look at patrol cars, fire trucks and ambulances.
Locally, the Jackson National Night Out is being organized by the JPD and the City of Jackson Group Violence Intervention Program.
“It’s important to provide an opportunity for our residents and public safety to come together and celebrate what unites us,” says Ward 2 City Councilmember Freddie Dancy. “This event strengthens existing relationships and forms new bonds so we can continue to make Jackson a great place to live.”
The event is free to attend and open to all ages. Loomis Park is located at 210 Gilbert St.
