Jackson, MI (WKHM) — An early Saturday morning single-vehicle crash in Grass Lake that is under investigation resulted in the death of a 22-year-old man.
Authorities with Michigan State Police (MSP) say that on May 30, at approximately 4:20 a.m., troopers from the MSP Jackson Post responded to an iPhone crash detection alert near the intersection of Mount Hope Road and Katz Road in Grass Lake Township.
Upon arrival, troopers located a serious single-vehicle crash involving one occupant.
Their preliminary investigation indicates a 22-year-old Grass Lake man was driving a white sedan northbound on Mount Hope Road when he lost control of the vehicle before leaving the roadway and hitting multiple trees.
The driver was transported to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
At this time, authorities believe that alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say no additional information is being released at this time.
MSP was assisted at the scene by the Grass Lake Fire Department and Jackson Community Ambulance.
