Jackson, MI (WKHM) — Optimist Ice Arena in Jackson will host the Guns & Hoses charity hockey tournament on Saturday morning, with doors opening at 10:00 a.m.
The event is put on by the Local 1306 Summit / Jackson Firefighters Union and will feature teams of firefighters, police, and other law enforcement and first responder agencies facing off on the ice.
Hunter Keith, a firefighter with the Jackson Fire Department, detailed some of the opening ceremony’s festivities, which includes the national anthem being sung by country music signer Jason Cross.
Cost of entry is $10 cash at the door, with all of the funds going to support a local family in need. Keith explained that this is a pivot from the usual process of revenue from these events going to charity funds.
Other fundraising efforts include raffles featuring local sports memorabilia, including a hockey stick from Detroit Red Wing and Jackson native Carter Mazur.
Opening ceremonies for Guns & Hoses begin at 11:00 a.m., and more details can be found on the Summit/Jackson Firefighters Facebook page.
