City of Jackson Suspect in Custody in Relation to January Homicide

Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A suspect is now in custody in relation to a homicide that occurred in January in the City of Jackson.

On Wednesday (May 4) authorities received a tip advising that a homicide suspect was within city limits at a residence in the 1800 block of Chapin Street.

Officers from the Jackson Police Department (JPD) and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) executed a search warrant and located 51-year-old Robert Poole in a residence in the 1800 block of Chapin Street.

Officials say Poole was arrested without incident, and was transported to the Jackson County Jail and lodged on the charges of alleged Open Murder and Felony Firearm.

Back on January 28, at approximately 8:45 a.m., JPD officers arrived in the 1600 block of E. Michigan Ave to find a 49-year-old Jackson resident deceased from an apparent gun shot to his upper torso.

A passerby located the victim near the rear of a parking lot and called 911.

Earlier that morning at approximately 2:13 am there was a 911 call for several shots fired in the vicinity of Orange Street.

Authorities identified the victim as 49-year-old Michael Mishaw of Jackson.
