Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — As the City of Jackson begins the process of completing a new Master Plan, a Master Plan Steering Committee is being formed to help guide the plan.
City Communications Manager Christina Crouch says that the city wants as many residents as possible to get involved.
City Grant Administrator Cory Mays spoke with WKHM about the Steering Committee’s role as being representative of city residents, as well as some of the things they will be doing over the course of the next 12 months including monthly meetings.
Jackson Mayor Daniel Mahoney discussed the overall goal of the plan being to help shape the future of the city, with citizen input playing a critical role.
Those interested in joining the Master Plan Steering Committee are encouraged to sign up and / or find more information at: https://www.cityofjackson.org/1255/Planning-Zoning.
This committee will collaborate with city staff on the plan, and Jackson City Council has contracted Planning NEXT as consultants.
“Master planning is one of the most important opportunities a community has to step back and ask what kind of city we want to become,” said John O’Connor, Planning Director and Zoning Administrator for the City of Jackson.
“It allows us to bring residents, businesses, and local leaders together to imagine the future of Jackson and build a roadmap that reflects the hopes and priorities of the entire community.”
