Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A new collaborative storytelling initiative is putting a spotlight on some of the people and local companies that help drive Jackson’s manufacturing economy.
The Built Here video project is facilitated by Accelerate Jackson County, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), and the Shop Rat Foundation, showcasing the region’s manufacturing sector through short-form videos.
Kelly Burr Kofflin, the Executive Director of the Shop Rat Foundation, spoke with WKHM about the project and provided a brief overview of its function.
The video series is produced by the award-winning team at Uncharted Films, whose cinematic approach helps capture what the companies produce, and how they impact the community.
The videos on the Built Here project are made to be short and easily digestible, with each video lasting a couple minutes long rather than a video form that requires a longer time commitment such as a podcast.
So far, three companies have been featured on Built Here: Wire Wizard Welding Products, Angling A.I., and Danfoss.
Additional videos highlighting Melling and Machining Momentum are set to premiere soon.
Kofflin gave her opinion on what the benefits are to those companies who have participated in the series.
The Shop Rat Foundation Executive Director said that she is more than happy to be a part of the collaborative effort that helped make Built Here possible.
