JPD Traffic Stop Results in Multiple Arrests for Weapons Charges

Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — One man and one teenage male were arrested on weapons charges and more after a traffic stop in which the passenger of the vehicle fled the scene.

This past Wednesday evening (March 4), an officer with the Jackson Police Department (JPD) conducted a traffic stop near North Elm Avenue and Floral Avenue.

During the stop, the JPD says the driver was ordered out of the vehicle and he refused. As officers removed him from the vehicle, authorities say he began to resist. He was taken to the ground and placed in custody.

According to the JPD, a loaded revolver was found in his pocket. During the incident, the passenger of the vehicle fled from the traffic stop, and was located running into a residence.

A search warrant was obtained for the residence, and a second loaded pistol was subsequently located (firearms pictured in the headline above from the JPD).

Ultimately, the JPD reports that a 22-year-old man was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, resisting and obstructing, malicious destruction of police property, and multiple conditional bond violations.

A 16-year-old male was lodged at the Jackson County Youth Center for carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting and obstructing.

Charges will also be sought on a 43-year-old woman for aiding and abetting in relation to the incident.
