Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson County Board of Commissioners made some amendments to and ultimately approved the Jackson County Strategic Plan at their Tuesday morning Study Session (March 3).
The plan was sent back to the Administrator’s Office for review at February’s Board of Commissioners meeting after multiple commissioners protested a heading that was added to the plan labeled “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging” on Page 12.
The heading was changed to “Jackson County Core Values” in the version that made it to Tuesday’s agenda packet.
While there were multiple tweaks to the language in the plan that were approved by the board, none of them were in relation to Page 12.
A list of motions made to amend the plan can be found by clicking here.
The plan lists Planning NEXT, Ninigret Partners, and Famous Destination Marketing as involved consultants.
Planning NEXT was also involved in the creation of Drive Jackson (a 20-year plan spearheaded by the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce) and has recently been contracted by the City of Jackson to help them with a new Master Plan.
The commissioners voted 5-2 to approve the plan as amended, with Commissioners Tony Bair and Darius Williams voting in opposition.
