Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson County Board of Commissioners decided to send a proposed Strategic Plan for the county back to the County Administrator’s Office for further analysis during their meeting on Tuesday.
The plan was presented to the commissioners by consulting company Planning NEXT, who also has involvements with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce’s “Drive Jackson” initiative and has been contracted to help make the City of Jackson a new Master Plan.
Commissioner Phil Duckham introduced the motion to return the plan for further review because of the addition of a “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging” section to the plan.
Commissioner John Willis said that while he has no issue sending the plan back for review, he believes that the addition reflects the values of Jackson County.
Among the majority vote to send the plan to the Administrator was Commissioner Ray Snell.
The motion to send the plan back for review passed 6-2.
