Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — More information has been released involving a suspect that was arrested following a structure fire at Clinton Street in the City of Jackson.
Officers arrived and made contact with a male subject who was lying in front of the home. Authorities say the individual ultimately admitted to officers that he set the home on fire in an attempt to harm his roommates as he believed they were conspiring against him.
One of the roommates, a 62-year-old man, was able to escape the fire by exiting through an upstairs window.
The second roommate, a 67-year-old man, was transported to Henry Ford Health Jackson where he was stabilized before being transferred to the University of Michigan Hospital for further treatment.
Officials say his current medical condition is pending an update from the University of Michigan Burn Center.
The suspect has been arrested and is awaiting formal charges. According to the JPD’s activity report for January 21, a 43-year-old man was arrested on allegations of 1st degree arson and assault with intent to murder.
