
Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning, fire and emergency crews from over ten different departments in Jackson County responded to a structure fire at Thayer Marine along US-127 just south of Exit 34.
After officials initially arrived on the scene, the situation was upgraded to a 4th alarm structure fire for more backup and water supply.
The fire was seen engulfing a large portion of the building, resulting in the flames and heavy smoke being visible from the roof of the business.
Traffic was being directed away from the area by law enforcement at the scene, but the impacted traffic area on US-127 has since been reopened.

According to officials, no injuries have been reported as a result of the fire. There were more than ten boats that were in the building at the time of the incident, all of which are considered a total loss.
An investigation is underway in regards to the cause of the fire.
