Mel Tucker has been fired as head football coach at Michigan State, effective immediately. According to a termination letter from Athletic Director Alan Haller — Tucker is being fired for cause for violating the school’s code of conduct. In addition, Haller called Tucker’s response to his notice of termination a “litany of excuses.”
Tucker is accused of sexually harassing Brenda Tracy, a rape survivor and sexual assault prevention advocate. By firing him for cause, the school will reportedly not be on the hook to pay Tucker the $79 million remaining on his contract.
