Jackson College remains on high alert after shooting at MSU

Jackson, Mich. — Jackson College remains on high alert after the shooting that took place on Monday night on the campus of Michigan State University.

Three students were killed and five others were critically wounded on the campus of MSU. The gunman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and has been identified as 43-year-old Anthony Dwayne McRae. Officials say McRae was not affiliated with the university.

WKHM spoke with Jackson College President, Dr. Dan Phelan who said that the campus is on high alert and that this incident is deeply troubling.

Phelan also said that even though these types of events can’t always be prevented, Jackson College has taken active steps to be ready to respond.

Jackson College will also use this time to review and improve upon plans that are in place.

Jackson College is also ready to respond in case anyone on their campus is traumatized by the events at MSU.
