JACKSON, MI – Henry Ford Allegiance Health officials recently announced a $25,000 contribution to the Jackson District Library to support its bookmobile.
“A special thank you is in order for Henry Ford Allegiance Health’s support of the library and our new bookmobile.” said JDL Director Sara Tackett.
JDL officials organized a ribbon cutting event for the new bookmobile in late October, and are now in the process of scheduling periodic stops throughout Jackson County.
Jackson’s first bookmobile, a Ford Model A, was purchased in 1930 and represented the library’s commitment to making library services accessible to the entire community. JDL’s bookmobile service came to an end in the early 1980’s, as the library worked to expand its physical branch locations.
