JACKSON, MI – 40 year old Leandrew Martin who was convicted of nine felonies, including multiple assault with intent to do great bodily harm, and a series of weapons charges had his conviction overturned in Appeals Court leading to a new trial. Martin was found guilty by a Jackson County Jury in the February shooting incident that occurred behind Avenue Gentleman’s Club and Kingston’s Lounge. A number of shots were fired at a crowd of individuals, one man was struck in the foot. The court said in the ruling, Martin failed to get adequate council when the Defense failed to ask for a self-defense jury instruction, be given to the jury. Jackson County Prosecutor Jerry Jarzynka said that he and his team are currently reviewing the Appeals Court decision. More updates will be provided when a new trial is set.
