A 34 year-old man was killed following a three-car crash on I-94 in Detroit that involved a broken down stolen SUV blocking a lane.
The crash happened at around 1:20AM on Saturday in the westbound lane of I-94 near Lonyo Street in Detroit.
An SUV broke down, blocking the right lane. A semi traveling in the right lane was able to stop before hitting the SUV, however a Jeep behind the semi was unable to stop in time and crashed into the back of the tractor-trailer.
The driver of the Jeep, a 34 year-old man, was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Investigators say that the broken down SUV was stolen. Eyewitnesses report seeing two people run on foot from the SUV after the crash. The driver and passenger of the SUV were not located by police.
The investigation is ongoing.
