Small plane crashes into home in New Hudson, 3 killed

Three people have died after a small plane crashed into a New Hudson, Michigan residence. The plane struck the Lyon Township home, located just north of the Oakland/Southwest Airport, sometime before 4PM on Saturday.

Half of the home was engulfed in fire by the time emergency crews arrived. The nose of the plane crashed into the side of the residence and into the living room before it burst into flames.

The three occupants of the plane, licensed pilot David Compo and his wife Michele and college-age son Dawson, were killed in the crash.

The family of the residence, a mother and father and their three children, were inside the home when the plane hit but were in another part of the house and able to escape.

The family’s cat perished in the accident.  Half of the home was destroyed by fire and structural damage.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
