Deputy terminated, charged for slapping cuffed woman after kick to groin

An Oakland County sheriff’s deputy who slapped a handcuffed woman across the face after she kicked him in the groin is now terminated and facing charges.

Kevin McNally, a 27 year veteran, was arraigned Friday, December 18, on charges of misconduct and assault & battery. He is out on personal-recognizance bond.

The incident occurred back on November 4 in Rochester Hills.

Police received reports of assault & battery and auto theft at an area apartment complex. McNally located the stolen vehicle in a nearby Walmart parking lot. The attacker, a 35 year-old Shelby Township woman, was incoherent and under the influence.

After making contact, McNally handcuffed the woman, then she kicked him in the groin. McNally retaliated by slapping the subject across the face and becoming increasingly aggressive, according to the sheriff’s office.

The woman faces charges of auto theft, reckless driving, assault & battery and resisting. Additional charges are expected pending a blood test.
