Holiday Weekend Marred by Gun Crimes

There were at least three gun related crimes reported in Jackson County over the holiday weekend.

A 23-year-old Parma woman was arrested Friday evening for recklessly shooting a firearm. According to Michigan State Police the woman was involved in an argument, fired a gun, then left the scene. Troopers found her at another location and confirmed that she was carrying a concealed weapon. The woman was lodged at the Jackson County Jail pending arraignment.

Jackson police say there were about 100 people at a party on Adrian Court early Sunday morning when shots rang out. Officers arriving at the scene found a 15-year-old male with at least three gunshot wounds to his arms and legs. The teen said he didn’t see who shot him and didn’t know why anyone would, though a witness said the teen had been in a fight with another man earlier. The teen was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health with non-life threatening injuries. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call JPD at 788-4100.

Gunshots were reported Sunday evening in Jackson in the area of First and Harwood Streets. While there was no one injured and no witnesses, officers discovered that two vehicles and multiple homes had been hit by gunfire. Police recovered two types of shell casings at the scene.
