27-year-old Josephus Anderson was found guilty of perjury after lying under oath during his brother’s trial in October of 2015. Anderson testified during the trial that he and his 29-year-old brother, Willie Anderson II, broke into a home and threatened a woman with a gun. He later recanted his testimony on appeal, saying he committed the robbery with another man as the getaway driver. He had agreed to testify against his brother in exchange for a shorter sentence on appeal. Prosecutors later withdrew the plea deal after determining Anderson was not being truthful on the stand.
