Consumers Energy Helps With Heating Bills

Consumers Energy has once again donated millions of dollars to help their customers to pay heating bills this winter. Organizations receiving the financial support include the United Way of Jackson County, TrueNorth Community Services, The Salvation Army, The Heat and Warmth Fund, Michigan Community Action Agency, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Archdiocese of Detroit, United Way for Southeastern Michigan and Michigan Veterans Trust Fund. Calling 211 will connect customers with a worker to help with the process. They can also be referred to other organizations for additional resources. Most of the money donated will enroll customers in the CARE program, a two-year payment plan that helps customers manage their energy bills. The plan works to prevent having debt with the company, and to be in a better position moving forward.
