Consumers Energy is inviting local business and community members to discuss updated plans for electric system upgrades that will start later this fall on Pearl Street in Jackson.

In response to local business concerns, Consumers Energy pushed back and adjusted plans for the project, which will improve electric reliability for local businesses and residents. The work involves total replacement of critical electric infrastructure along Pearl Street, which will benefit the greater downtown Jackson area. Work will start after Oct. 15 and will take place in sections along the three-block stretch of the downtown street. At least one lane of traffic Pearl Street will remain at least partially open at all times.

Consumers Energy and Jackson city officials will be present at this meeting to discuss details of the plans and answer questions on September 19 from 12:30pm until 2pm at the Consumers Energy Innovation Center, 165 W. Michigan Ave, Jackson, MI 49201. The public are invited to arrive starting after noon. Representatives from Consumers Energy and Jackson City Engineer Jon Dowling will be on hand to present information and answer questions.
