The Anchor Initiative and the City of Jackson have invited all city officials, press, and residents to Weatherwax Hall on July 10th at 6pm for the reveal of the Downtown Jackson Retail Market Study, according to a joint press release.
Gibbs Planning Group, Inc. conducted a retail feasibility analysis as the first step in a comprehensive investigation of how to stimulate retail growth in downtown Jackson. The firm was retained by the Jackson Anchor Initiative. One key highlight of the study finds that downtown Jackson, in its primary trade area, can presently support up to 108,400 additional square feet of retail and restaurant development, potentially generating up to $31.9 million in new sales.
“This plan enables us to take additional steps towards enhancing economic development efforts throughout Jackson. The financial assets gained by developing our downtown will continue to support the valuable infrastructure and economic projects necessary to revitalize our city.” says Jackson City Manager Patrick Burtch.
