A 46 year old Jackson man is now competent to stand trial in the death of a Jackson woman, according to a report by the Center for Forensic Psychiatry.  Psychiatrists in October determined that Leo Kwaske was not competent to stand trial in the murder and mutilation of 59 year old Shirley Meeks.  But Psychiatrists now say, forced to take psychotropic medication Kwaske now is competent to stand trial.  No determination was made on Kwaske’s sanity.  Kwaske is charged with first degree murder, mutilation of a dead body and first degree home invasion.  The beheaded body of Meeks was found October 15th inside her Reed Manor Apartment.
