The Jackson County Health Department has issued a boil water alert for a section of Leoni Township after a fire hydrant breakdown caused water to be shut off temporarily.

The affected areas:

  • Ann Arbor Road from Thrush Rd. to Gillletts Lake Road
  • Sargent Road from Gilletts Lake Road to Brills Lake Road
  • Seymour Road from Brills Lake Road to the east
  • Ridgewood Vista
  • Trailer Park Drive
  • Ranch Home Estates

The alert should last through Wednesday, per the health department. When water is shut off due to damage to a fire hydrant it can cause bacterial contamination.

Residents are asked to boil their water before consuming it.
