Chairman Steve Shotwell joined WKHM on Tuesday to talk about the parks millage, which is on the August 7th ballot.
“We have 17 county parks and the advantages of this millage will be pretty much an enhancement to every county park in Jackson County.” Shotwell said. One of the goals is to make them user friendly and accessible to all.
One of the major county projects has already begun, the face lift of the fairgrounds, “The grandstands are staying, we’re not tearing down the grandstands. We’ll be enhancing that with a multipurpose arena-type area so we’ll be able to have live concerts year-round.” Shotwell said. He continued to say that the fairgrounds will be transformed into a “county park that the fairgrounds will be at.” The infield of the former track area will become the new midway for the fair each year.
