Lost Railway Museum brings history to life

In the 1900s, Interurban railway systems were the primary mode of public transportation that linked rural villages in Michigan – before paved streets, cars and buses. Did you know Grass Lake was a major stop on the line? Now there is a museum in the works to preserve that history and keep the magic alive.

The exhibit is called the Lost Railway Museum, and renovations have already begun at the location: 142 W. Michigan Ave in Grass Lake, Michigan. Work is being done by architect Bob Cole of Architronics, and MR Builders. Those wanting to contribute to this major part of Michigan history can purchase a brick (4×4” for $175 or 8×8” for $300) or donate/lend memorabilia from the interurban era.
